OMGZ I'm a Graduate Student!

Today I signed up for my first semester of graduate courses at Boise State.

Eeeeep!

Here's what I *think* I'm going to take:

ENGL 500 Research Methods in Literary Studies (Required Class)
An introduction to research techniques and resources in advanced literary study. The course includes the use of bound and electronic reference sources, methods of bibliography and textual criticism, the significance of biographical, archival, and historical evidence in literary study, and standard conventions of scholarly documentation. PREREQ: Admission to Master of Arts in English program or PERM/CHAIR.

ENGL 530 - 001 Studies in a Literary Period (Note: The Age of Chivalry: Arthurian Literature of the 12th-15th Centuries )

A study of a selected chronological period of American or British literature with focus on major authors, genres, or topics. Repeatable for credit. PREREQ: Admission to Master of Arts in English program or Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program or PERM/CHAIR.

ENGL 598 - 001 Teaching Assistant Seminar
Basically I learn how to teach beginning composition (ENGL 101 and 102) in this class.

In addition to my 9 credits of graduate coursework, I'll also be teaching one section of English 101 in the fall, and then two sections in the spring. I'm excited to teach, but getting WAY nervous, too....eeeep!

The Tags They Are A-Janglin'

Took Moss to the vet to get another set of puppy boosters. He is now protected against rabies for a whole year :). He got a rabies tag that is about twice the size of his ID tag... and he keeps trying to bite at it. It's pretty funny but the jangling noise is about driving me nuts. Thankfully the shots tuckered him out and he's passed out at my feet. What a sweet boy he is. He's gained 4 lbs since our last visit 2 weeks ago! He weighs 18.4 lbs now... which is just enough so that it's uncomfortable to pick him up :-P

Here's a couple photos from this afternoon:

"Will you get that thing outta my face? I'm tired! kthx." (yeah.... what a poor abused puppy he is, LOL. it's obvious that nobody loves him around here ;) )

A Haiku

For Katy:

Whistles piss her off
Cedar flosses teeth with wool
Chew toys not enough.

My dog kicks ass

Cedar is really coming along well with her driving. Went out to Dianne's today and worked twice. The first time, Dianne let me along and Cedar and I drove all around the field. She was taking my commands nicely and for the most part staying well off of her sheep.

Look! Look! Real driving!!! I am somewhere behind and to the side of her in these pictures (thanks again to Dianne for taking them!):

(Click to make them bigger..... they look tiny here LOL)

She's gaining a lot more confidence on the drive. I'm so proud of her. And, knock on wood, I haven't been doing *too* much to mess her up lately. I'm sure that will change, of course :)

I really appreciated Dianne coming out and helping me during our second work of the day. She knows and sees things that I don't, and I think it really helped. And, of course, made me feel more than a little idiotic, but that's just how it goes I guess :)

I wish I would have gotten some photos of her playing in the pond afterwards...... so cute! Oh well, next time.

Of course, Moss had to make his opinion known that he really didn't appreciate being stuck in a pen while Cedar and I worked sheep!

...but he wasn't pissed off for long... Storm came along to distract him:

Sad news.......... I wasn't able to get the weekend off for the GSH trial in April :( :(.... guess I'll have to wait for the ASCA trial in May for our trial debut. Which reminds me, I need to get her an ASCA Tracking Number... hmm.

Work and Play

Went out to Dianne's today to work Cedar. I also brought my camera and ended up taking photos of a bunch of Dianne's dogs. Here's a little sample:

Huck, who is out of Riggs and Rose (Moss's half brother). He is 7 months old and driving already. I'm more than a little jealous. And excited to start Moss :)

Dianne was nice enough to take some photos of Cedar for me while I worked her the second time. Here's a few of her driving the sheep out to the pasture:

Happy 13 Week Birthday, Moss!

Well I don't have any stockdogging news to report, except for the sad fact that I may not be able to get the weekend of the GSH AHBA trial off from work because I can't find anyone to cover for me :( But I'm working on it....

Here's a couple photos of Moss so you can see how he's growing:
